Garage Door Servicing & Maintenance

Salt air, sand and humidity are hard on moving metal. A regular service is the cheapest way to keep a Gold Coast garage door quiet, safe and out of the repair queue.

What's included in a service

PartWhat we check and do
SpringsInspect for rust and gaps, adjust tension, test balance at half-open.
Cables & drumsCheck for fraying and correct winding on both sides.
Rollers & hingesLubricate, tighten, and flag worn or cracked rollers.
TracksClean out sand and debris, check alignment and fixings.
MotorTest force and limit settings, chain or belt tension, and the manual release.
SafetySafety beam alignment and the auto-reverse test.
SealsBottom and side weather seals checked for gaps and perishing.

How often?

For most Gold Coast homes, once a year. If you're within about a kilometre of the beach, the Broadwater or a canal, every six months is better, because salt build-up on springs and fasteners is the main cause of the failures we see.

Between services

  • Hose the outside of the door down with fresh water every few weeks if you live close to the water.
  • Keep the bottom track and floor seal free of sand and leaves.
  • Test the auto-reverse monthly by closing the door on a piece of timber laid flat.
